You can now produce your own fish food!

Feeding fish with formulated feed such as flakes, pallets, ONLY is not enough for fish growth and health. They need more easy to digest, high in protein, soft and moving food to obtain more nutrients and grow healthily. Livefeed is very suitable for those who keep fish fry. The best thing is, if you can culture them by yourself and save your pocket money :D

Here we would like to share our livefeed production that we did, which is the.... BLOODWORMS!

So basically, what is bloodworm?

Bloodworm are actually not real worms. But they are the larval stage of the midges fly (Chironomidae). Midges fly look similar to mosquitoes but slender and smaller and are nor harmful because they do not bite. They lay eggs into water and hatch into these so called bloodworm because it is red in colour. You can find them in dirt water, buried themselves in soil. Otherwise, you can easily find them as frozen fish food in pet stores with cheap prices. Plus, They are highly in protein and most fish love it a lot.

HOW TO CULTURE BLOODWORM

The things you need is:

tank
soil
aerator
   dead leaves
freshwater or long kept rainwater
some farm manure to feed your bloodworm

The simple steps is:
Put water and soil into the tank and supply it with aeration to keep the water fresh. Make sure that the water is free from chlorine because bloodworm is sensitive with chemicals. Then, put some manures into the tank to attract the flies to lay their eggs and to feed the bloodworm at the same time. Leave the tank uncovered for weeks and check if there any bloodworm in there.

care to harvest your bloodworms before they transform into midges fly!
